MICHAŁ WRÓBLEWSKI  pianist, composer

           Graduate of the Jazz Music Department at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, specializing in Piano Performance, Composition, and Arrangement. Winner of the Grand Prix at Jazz Juniors 2010 with the Michał Wróblewski Trio, and laureate of the Transatlantyk Festival’s Instant Composition Contest (2014). In 2015, he was named “New Hope” in the annual Jazz Forum magazine poll and received the Jazz Melomani Grand Prix award in the category “Hope of the Year 2014.” Since 2010, he has led the jazz ensemble Michał Wróblewski Trio.

          He is also a composer of numerous symphonic projects. His first orchestral suite, entitled 'Jazz i Orkiestra' ('Jazz and Orchestra'), was recorded with the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice. It was later performed at various venues, including performances the Polish Radio Music Studios in Warsaw. The album, released in 2013, featured guest soloist Zbigniew Namysłowski. Within the Jazz and Orchestra project, he has also performed and recorded with the Amadeus Polish Radio Chamber Orchestra and several other philharmonic ensembles.

           In 2015, Michal traveled to New York at the invitation of multiple Grammy Award winner Terence Blanchard. Together with Blanchard, the Michał Wróblewski Trio toured Europe, performing at events such as the Berliner Festspiele, the Witold Lutosławski Polish Radio Concert Studio in Warsaw, and the Kaunas Jazz Festival in Lithuania.

 

          The collaboration with Blanchard continued with the album Lucid Dream by Radiostatik, recorded in 2015 at MSR Studios in Manhattan (now Sound On Sound Studios). The album featured talented young American jazz musicians, including Raashan Ahmad, Andre Washington, Joshua Crumbly, and Dana Hawkins, and was engineered and co-produced by Russell Elevado. The band toured Europe for the first time in 2016.

       In 2018, Michał recorded a live symphonic album of the Radiostatik project with the Symphony Orchestra from Szczecin, Poland. From 2018 to 2023, he collaborated with Michał Urbaniak as an arranger and pianist in the “Urbanator” band and Urbsymphony project. He is currently pursuing PhD studies in music at the University of Warsaw.
